Specialist Education Services has an exemplary track record for innovative, sensitive and creative work with children and young people experiencing social, emotional and mental health complexities. Avocet House is a dual registered Children’s Home and Residential Special School, providing highly individualised, trauma informed education and care packages for up to eight young people in the 8 to 18 years age range. The holistic outcomes for our young people are second to none in this sector compared to national statistics

The Learning Centre is currently judged “Good” by Ofsted. We believe that learning is not driven exclusively by our teaching staff, but is interwoven through our holistic philosophy. Our 24 hour learning ethos requires input from the whole team, both teaching and care staff, under the leadership of the Principal.

As Deputy Head of Education you will be supporting the Head of Education in their leadership and management of the Learning Centre adults, as part of our larger holistic multi-professional team, and in providing a personalised learning curriculum for the young people in our care.

We are seeking a creative professional who already has a degree of management experience coupled with the ability to innovate, or a talented teacher who is ready for their first step into leadership and management. If you have the potential we will help you develop it further - learning is our focus, at every age and stage. You must be at one with our ‘no limits’ philosophy, understand the notion of 24 hour learning and have an informed view of learning in its widest sense. An SEN specialism would be useful as would a knowledge of social, emotional and mental health issues, but this should not pre-determine whether you enquire or apply.

Further discussion about this post is encouraged, please call 01508 549320 and we will be happy to talk to you about the role and your candidacy, if you are unsure whether this role is for you or if you would like an informal discussion.

For more information or to find our application form visit - www.specialisteducation.co.uk or call 01508 549320.
