About us
Our Vacancies

Norwich School is a co-educational, independent day school for pupils aged four to eighteen; and is the only school of its kind in the region. Its location in Norwich’s historic Cathedral Close makes it a traditional yet vibrant and lively place to learn and work.

While we consistently achieve outstanding academic results, we believe that an education for life is about more than statistics. Our ethos is rooted in our beautiful surroundings, in the inspirational presence of the great Cathedral, in a remarkable history of almost 1000 years. But our true essence is recreated every day by the supportive atmosphere created by our inspirational staff, by our broad curriculum, by our excellent facilities and finally by the pupils themselves.

The school is a centre for PGCE placements, offering many different routes into teaching. We work with a number of Universities including UEA, Cambridge and Buckingham to offer placements to graduates, and are also linked with the Suffolk and Norfolk Initial Teacher Training Partnership and Norfolk Teacher Training Centre.

We were graded “Outstanding” in all areas of our most recent inspection by the Independent Schools Inspectorate and was the only school in Norfolk and Suffolk to appear in the Department of Education’s top 100 schools by A Level results

In addition to the impressive academic results, pupils are excelling in the many extra-curricular activities offered, while also making significant contributions to the wider community. Head Master, Steffan Griffiths, says, “Public examination performance is only one measure of a school’s effectiveness; we set more store by the holistic education we provide and the rounded individuals we seek to shape by the time they leave us. However, it is reassuring to know that academic performance remains strong as it is an important platform from which our pupils can prepare to make a positive contribution to 21st century society”.

In 2019 Norwich School won the ‘Whole-school community initiative of the year’ category at the 2019 Tes Independent School Awards. The school has also received the Norfolk Chamber’s Young Chamber Enterprise Recognition Award as a result of their commitment to improving the employability skills of young people in our region. Several of the sports teams also represented the region at a national level.
